Dem Brunnenwärter oblag die Überwachung der Wasserqualität sowie die Kontrolle des Abflusses von den Quellen des Asciano-Tals nach Pisa über einen monumentalen Aquädukt mit 934 Bögen.

Im Jahr 2008 erwarben die aktuellen Eigentümer das Anwesen, das zuvor jahrzehntelang vernachlässigt worden war. Unter Aufsicht der Denkmalschutzbehörde wurde es aufwändig und liebevoll restauriert, wobei besonderes Augenmerk auf die Erneuerung der Dächer mit hochwertiger Isolierung gelegt wurde.
