This end of terrace ground-floor apartment which is part of a complex of 15 apartments, and the whole ‘borgo’ or charming hamlet where it is located is a listed building in Italy, and protected by Italian Cultural and Environmental Ministry National Trust for Historic Houses (Dimore Storiche – Ministero dei Beni Culturali ed Ambientali) due to their important architectural, historical and landscaping heritage. The complex was originally the farm and stables of the Eighteenth century Villa Malaspina nearby with its olive groves and vineyards.
The apartment for sale is equipped with its own garden, store-room and 1 garage, plus 2 parking spaces. It has a lovely view of the Villa Malaspina, the medieval village of Castelnuovo Magra and the sea, which is 4 miles away. The closest airport would be Pisa(served by many charter flights from the UK, as well as British Airways) which is a mere 45 minutes’ drive away, otherwise Genova is 1 hour away and Florence is 1 and a half hours away. The closest railway station is in Sarzana, 2.5 miles away.
The apartment is in the typical Tuscan style, with stone arches, brick vaulted high ceiling, recently restored after having been the out-house of the Villa Malaspina opposite. In restoring it to its original form, the floors have terracotta tiles and Vietri hand-painted wall tiles, and Carrara marble window-sill, kitchen surface and window surrounds. It is 90m square and has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom( with bathtub and separate shower), kitchen and lounge. Each window has a lovely view, and one of the bedrooms and the lounge have a sea-view also. The area is quiet, yet close to everything.
