Renovated beautiful ancient family house (1800), in the charming village of Roccasecca (southern Lazio, Cassino, Italy). Quiet countryside, but well connected: 120km from Rome and Naples via highway or train (1.15' from Rome central station).
Located in a little square next to the church of Saint Francis Cluster in front of the old fountain, 5 minutes’ walk from the Medieval centre of the town. The house has three floors; each of 175 square meters. The roof is covered with the characteristic terracotta roof tiles. Ground floor: charming entrance with stone courtyard and roses pergola, basement with cellar and garage, wood oven, wood and water storage, bathroom with shower and central heating.
First floor: kitchen with big fireplace, large dining room, living room, 3 double bedrooms, 1 single bedroom, and a large bathroom with bathtub.
Second floor: 2 study-rooms with library, 1 living room with fireplace, 2 master bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and 1 double bedroom with balcony with view on the castle, 2 bathrooms, 1 balcony and a big terrace of 100 square meters with wisteria pergola. Front garden and back garden with roses, fruit trees, grape and mighty shadowing trees. Beautiful view of the hills and of the Medieval castle of Saint Thomas Aquinas.
The history and the spirit of the region are intimately related to the evolution of its territory: from the pre-Roman period, with the ancient acropolises surrounded by megalithic walls, the Roman imperial period with its prosperous towns along the via Latina till the Middle Ages, with the Benedictine abbeys. A land to be discovered in a trip between history, myth and legend following the footsteps of Cicero, the emperor Tiberio and Saint Thomas as well as along the route of Saint Benedict.
In the surroundings: charming archaeological sites and gothic monasteries, in the Benedictine oases, like Montecassino Abbey, Casamari Abbey, Fossanova Abbey, Aquino, and Fregelle. Sea touristic beach and archaeological sites and museums of Sperlonga and Terracina (75 km).
